For the first time in nearly five years, Troye Sivan has made a triumphant return to the stage, bigger and better than ever. His “Something to Give Each Other” tour began on Wednesday, May 29th, at Lisbon’s Coliseu dos Recreios, and it certainly did not disappoint.
Sivan kicked off the party with the electrifying “Got Me Started,” accompanied by his talented crew of dancers who excited the crowd with their flawless choreography and high-energy antics. To the audience’s surprise, the crew emulated an oral sex scene with Sivan kneeling in front of a mic held by one of his dancers, setting the tone for a night filled with surprises and inventive performances.
Introducing himself to the crowd, Sivan expressed his gratitude, “You’re at my first concert in almost five years… There’s a lot more gay people here, I didn’t think it was possible… I feel really bad for the gay clubs in Lisboa tonight because you guys are all here. You all look so cute.” The setlist was a dynamic mix of hype and sensual songs, from “One of Your Girls,” where Sivan channeled Madonna’s iconic 1989 VMA performance, to “STUD,” transforming the venue into a vibrant gay club.
Other notable performances included Ariana Grande’s “Supernatural” remix, in which he made a feature, fan favorite “1999” featuring Charli XCX, and “My My My!,” off of 2018 album Bloom. Ending the night with the biggest hit from his new record, “Rush,” Sivan and his backup dancers turned the stage into a massive party, inspiring everyone in the audience to jump and dance along.
Troye has returned as a prince of pop – showcasing stellar choreography, an incredibly confident and comfortable stage presence, multiple costume changes, and clever set pieces. The “Something to Give Each Other” tour is a must-see event that promises to leave a lasting impression.
