Third Eye Blind: 25 Years in the Blind

Third Eye Blind

The National (Richmond, VA)
03/22/23

Staple rock band Third Eye Blind embarked on a solo tour in early spring to celebrate their 25-year anniversary. They made a stop in Richmond, Virginia to perform a sold-out show to a very loving crowd. The line was wrapped around the city block, briefly postponing the show to ensure everyone was inside in time. The band donates a portion of each ticket sale to SeaTrees, which aims to mitigate the effects of carbon and climate change on the ocean.

The stage was set up beautifully, with drummer Brad Hargreaves on on the highest riser, vocalist Stephan Jenkins stationed in the middle of the back half of the stage, and keyboardist and guitarist Colin Creev on the other side of Jenkins, and guitarist Kryz Reid and bassist Alex LeCavalier at the front of the stage but moving back to interact with the other members throughout the show. The risers had a tall backdrop with lights behind it, creating a dreamy stage presence. The band performed nearly 30 songs, spanning all corners of their discography. They treated the audience with plenty of acoustic songs right in the middle of the set, even sneaking in a short cover of “Your Love” by The Outfield, and “Mine” by Beyoncé.

It’s impressive to see a band over 25 years down sell out shows all over the country with no opener. An evening with Third Eye Blind is certainly not a show you want to miss!
