The Revivalists: Pour It Out Into The Night

Rock band The Revivalists brought their electric live performance to Indianapolis, Indiana at the TCU Amphitheatre for a night of explosive summer fun. The tour is in support of the band’s new album, Pour It Out Into The Night, which was released at the beginning of June – and believe me, everything was indeed poured out into the night. It felt like a full moon ritual – everyone was singing and jumping in unison while frontman David Shaw blissfully ran around stage.

Towards the beginning of the set, The Revivalists had the crowd holding up their drinks in harmony during their performance of “Good Old Days.” Every pair of eyes in the venue was glued to Shaw as he skipped around, occasionally greeting the front row of the audience. It was impossible to feel bored during a performance like this. From an energizing frontman to a band who completely allows the music to flow through them, even people unfamiliar with The Revivalists couldn’t help but feel mesmerized. In the middle of the set, after bouncing between new songs and old hits from their record-charting album, Men Amongst Mountains, the Revivalists brought opener Maggie Koerner onstage to perform a cover of Radiohead’s “High and Dry.”

At the end of one of the most soulful performances Indianapolis has seen, the fans weren’t yet satisfied. It was after a feverish roar from the crowd when the band returned to stage for a three-song encore. The band closed with their 2015 hit song “Wish I Knew You,” and the crowd lit up as though it was the first song of the night. The amount of positive energy swirling in the air was so powerful that many exited the venue still dancing. They were revived.
