The Belasco Theater (Los Angeles, CA)

On April 27th, 2023, Spencer Sutherland played the final show of his In His Mania Tour for a sold-out crowd at The Belasco in Los Angeles, CA. Originally from Ohio, Sutherland signed a record deal with BMG US in 2018. A year later, he released his debut E.P., NONE of this has been about you. During 2022, Sutherland was the opening act for Big Time Rush’s headlining comeback tour. The boys of Big Time Rush were seated in the VIP area, showing their support for Spencer as he embarked on his biggest headlining show in L.A. to date! Fans who had been waiting for hours in anticipation for the night ahead lined the street. As the doors opened, fifteen hundred fans filed inside, hoping to get a good view for the show.
Before Spencer’s set, the night was stacked with support acts Cloe Wilder, Michael Minelli, and JORDY. It was apparent that many fans at the barricade had attended other dates on the tour, as they knew every move the openers made. When the lights dimmed and the intro for “Everybody” played, everyone in the audience began to scream. Spencer’s energy was unmatched for the final show of his tour. He flawlessly commanded the stage, interacted with the crowd, and gave a flawlessly perfect vocal performance. Spencer’s stage presence could be compared to that of Harry Styles or Joshua Bassett, while his voice is more of a mix between Hozier and The Script. He sang a few songs acoustically, with the audience providing backup vocals. Spencer also threw in a few covers, singing a shortened version of “A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton and “Bennie and the Jets” by Elton John in its entirety. Spencer even moved up to the upper section for a song, performing it for the crowd below by sitting on the edge of the balcony and looking down into the pit of fans.
Spencer Sutherland’s unique deep voice and rich, raspy tone matched with his high energy performance is something you definitely should see next time he plays in your area!
