Singer-songwriter mehro took to the stage for the second time in two nights on July 12th to support Claire Rosinkranz on her “Just Because” tour. The indie-rock sound fused with folk is very unique to mehro, who decided to fully pursue a music career with the release of his first single, “perfume,” back in February of 2020. His support of Claire Rosinkranz’s tour follows the late March release of his sophomore album, Dark Corners and Alchemy.
Opening with his acoustic song, “lightning,” off of his debut album, SKY ON FIRE – the vulnerability of his lyrics as well as his stage presence was mesmerizing, immediately grabbing the audience’s attention. With a single spotlight shining down on him and his acoustic guitar, the crowd was entranced by the extremely intimate setting displayed in front of them. Vocal breaks in the song were met with supportive cheers, but soon quieted down as they awaited the next set of lyrics. For his next song, more lights were added to the moody atmosphere and the entire band on stage joined in to play his debut single, “perfume.” mehro ended his set with his song, “pretty kids.” As he left the stage, he took the time to thank all the venue staff, security, booking and talent agents, sound and lighting, and everyone else who had worked so hard to make the concert successful.
mehro is unapologetically honest and vulnerable, which makes his music and live performances special. By putting 200% of himself into his music and career, it is obvious that he cares very deeply about the art he is making. After his set concluded, he hung out by the merch booth for the remainder of the night, taking the time to sign posters and chatting with fans.
