The Underground (Mesa, AZ)

Indie-rock female group Kid Sistr took to the stage at The Underground in Mesa, AZ this June as part of a co-headlining tour with indie singer Chloe Lilac, supported by Phoenix-based bands Diva Bleach and Viridian. Kid Sistr played third out of the roster to a hyped-up crowd, on a stage plastered up and down with music stickers dating back to the prehistoric era – a testament to the Nile’s storied, punky history. Despite only having released singles and E.P.s, Kid Sistr has amassed a dedicated following, with their most popular song, “Dallas,” coming in at 2.5 million streams on Spotify.
The band kicked their set off with “Little Sister Song,” a single off of their 2020 self-titled E.P. that takes a heartfelt look at the lives of the band members’ actual kid sisters, poking fun at the tendency of girls to want to seem “grown up” when they’re not. The female trio played a whirlwind tour of their discography while dancing and jumping around onstage, and closed off the performance with an attitude-filled angst anthem about girly liberation, “X-Tape (Want to Want Me.)
After the set, they came to mingle with fans in the crowd, and were nice enough to pose for a group shot. Kid Sistr is fantastic. Don’t let them pass you by – catch them on their U.S. tour, which ends in Columbus, OH on June 21st.
