JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown: SCARING THE HOES

The National (Richmond, VA)
08/16/23

Alternative hip-hop artists JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown brought their “SCARING THE HOES” tour to Richmond, Virginia for a sold-out show. The duo, each individually having their own successful projects, released an album together entitled SCARING THE HOES in March of this year. With such a large crossover of fans that love the both of them, this collaboration was so exciting to see. The duo took the tour to the midwest and east coast with support from Kenny Mason, DJ Dave, and Starberry.

The venue was packed with fans who danced nonstop throughout the set. The show kicked off with a handful of songs from SCARING THE HOES, when JPEG then performed some of his own songs. He performed plenty of fan favorites, like “1539 N. Calvert” from 2018 album Veteran, “BALD!” from 2021 album LP!, and even his cover of “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen. Danny Brown then returned to the stage to perform more from SCARING THE HOES until JPEG left the stage while Danny performed his solo hits as well. Danny performed just 6 songs, including “Ain’t it Funny” and “Really Doe” from 2016 album Atrocity Exhibition.

The duo closed out the show with “Fentanyl Tester” and the title track from their album, along with “Guess What Bitch, We Back Hoe!” from their SCARING THE HOES: DLC PACK 4-song release from July which featured “leftovers” from the original album. While the tour has wrapped up and you may not be able to see this duo performing live together, be sure to keep an eye on their individual projects!
