Joshua Bassett: The Golden Years

On September 3rd, Joshua Bassett’s “The Golden Years” tour stopped in Inglewood, California at the YouTube Theater. Despite mixed headlines leading up to this tour, the venue was packed with diehard fans all extremely excited to see Bassett perform.

Kicking off the night was pop singer-songwriter Thomas Day, who had heavenly vocals and a similar performance style to Bassett. At 9 P.M., as “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction echoed in the room, excited fans began to chatter, knowing the singer was set to come out on stage at any moment. All of a sudden, Bassett seemed to appear out of nowhere, singing the title track to his sophomore album. He emerged out onto the catwalk, reaching out to touch the hands of fans reaching out for him. Next up was his hit song, “Secret,” which the entire venue joined in on, screaming along with him. During “Circles” Bassett brought a few fans up on stage to line dance with him. Other hit songs included “Lie Lie Lie,” “Smoke Slow,” and “SHE SAID HE SAID SHE SAID.” He is a performer like no other, running and jumping around the stage with such ease and stamina. Joshua Bassett gives a very energetic, memorable performance with spot-on vocals that only few artists can achieve – I highly recommend attending one of his shows!
