On May 29th, indie-pop singer-songwriter girl in red brought her “Doing It Again” tour to the iconic Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Marie Ringheim, best known professionally as girl in red, released her sophomore album, I’M DOING IT AGAIN BABY!, in April this year after spending the majority of 2023 opening for Taylor Swift on the “Eras” tour, as well as completing her own festival run. With music that portrays queerness, falling in love, and mental health, girl in red’s music is very relatable to listeners, especially Gen-Z.

Kicking off the show was the up-and-coming indie-pop Canadian band, The Beaches. Their electric, upbeat set had a positive response from the sold-out audience. As they played their closing song, megahit “Blame Brett,” the entire crowd rose to their feet, dancing and singing along. Once girl in red came out on stage, the crowd went ballistic. She started off the set with the title track of her sophomore album, moving through hits like “bad idea!” and “girls.” She ran around across the stage, giving fans on each side of the stage a chance to interact with her. Despite several technical difficulties on stage, Marie was quick on her feet and kept the night flowing as smoothly as possible. Some songs were played acoustically, while others were added, such as “summer depression” and “I’ll Call You Mine,” creating a more intimate experience for the fans. Other notable songs that girl in red played were “i wanna be your girlfriend,” “October Passed Me By,” and “Serotonin.”
