Alternative band Future Islands brought their unique sound and performance to Richmond, Virginia for a packed show at The National. The headlining show comes the second to last day of their summer tour, mostly supporting Weezer on their “Indie Rock Roadtrip.” Future Islands’ most recent album, As Long As You Are, was released in 2020, and the band has been growing steadily since.
The band kicked off the show performing a handful of songs from their most recent album, before performing their 2021 single, “Peach.” The crowd was focused intently on the performance of vocalist Samuel Herring, cheering for his every move. The joy in the room came not only from the crowd, but also from the band members on stage, who truly seemed to be enjoying performing. Nearing the end of the show, Future Islands performs two of their biggest songs from their fourth album, Singles: “Seasons (Waiting on You)” and “A Dream of You and Me.” If you haven’t had the chance to see Future Islands yet, it’s a performance you won’t want to miss. Be sure to keep up with the band and catch a show when they’re in your city!
