Alternative-indie band Cigarettes After Sex performed an intimate set to a sold-out crowd at Arizona Financial Theatre this past Saturday, and my ears were blessed to be in that moment. The band’s melodic, slowcore beats were complemented by a dim and hazy light, as the passionate crowd sang along to hits like “Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby” from their 2012 E.P., I., their 2017 hit single “Apocalypse,” and their most recent single, “Bubblegum.”
Despite the ambient, slow jams that make up the Cigarettes After Sex discography, there is a dreamlike, romantic element that keeps the fans enthralled and their success growing. Cigarettes After Sex has been touring almost nonstop for 3 years, and will continue their current tour through the U.S. and Europe until November. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this band!
