Black Cat (Washington, DC
02/26/23
Chappell Roan brought the sparkle pop night of your dreams to Washington, DC at the end of February. With three locally-based drag queens opening, this show at the Black Cat in the heart of DC was unforgettable.
The night started with a dazzling entrance from Chikiparm who introduced their co-openers. Genesis started the show with the most beautifully glamorous set. Their green fluffy robe outfit reveal was absolutely everything and more with a gorgeous performance to follow.
Citrine opened next with such a graceful beauty in their performance. They were so interactive with the crowd just as Genesis and Chikiparm were, giving such a great start to the night for Chappell’s fans. Everything was perfect – from the all red outfit to the beautiful hair and makeup. Afterwards, Chikiparm returned to the stage to close out the opening sets with a bang, giving the audience everything they could ever want.
The headliner, Chappell Roan, hit the stage with her lovely band backing her out of this world set. You can tell that she was made for performing just from the joy and positivity she exudes. She performed hit songs like “Casual,” “Femininonenon,” and “Naked in Manhattan” that dazzled the crowd along with older favorites like “Pink Pony Club” and songs from her debut E.P., School Nights. Chappell’s show was so beautifully put together and one of the venue’s most anticipated shows this season. Be sure to catch Chappell on her U.S. tour this spring – that is, if it isn’t already sold out!
