The Deluxe (Indianapolis, IN)

Beach Fossils visited The Deluxe at Old National Centre on their spring North American tour for a night of pure psychedelic bliss. Being a Friday night in Indianapolis, the room was flooded with fans. Most people were excited to dance to new songs from Beach Fossils’ latest album Bunny, which was released in June of 2023. The songs on the album traverse the many valleys of the heart, and watching Beach Fossils perform them live was like experiencing Bunny in a brand new light.
The band began their set with “Don’t Fade Away,” the first single from Bunny. It immediately captivated the crowd, and the catchy chorus rang from voices all throughout the venue. In between songs, the band cracked jokes and made it a point to interact with their crowd, causing a feeling of connection to sweep across the room. As the set boomed on, Beach Fossils began to increase their energy on stage. They jumped to the driving melody of “This Year,” the leading track from their 2017 album, Somersault.
At one point during their set, Beach Fossils called for all house and stage lights to go down, and the room was black for a moment before becoming illuminated by hundreds of tiny phone flashlights. The band performed their hit “Sleep Apnea” in the twinkling light. The encore came around, and the indie band closed their set with “Daydream” from their 2010 self-titled album. All throughout the night there was laughter, dancing, and an underlying feeling of togetherness. Beach Fossils exited the stage after giving an honest and lively performance that left the room buzzing.
